Floral can sometimes end up being too cute or too girly.
To make this floral top a little more urban, I matched the top with all black items:
- Black sandals
- Black pants
- Black accessories

The look became feminine but cool; a style I love to strive for, especially at work!
Added orange lipstick to help brighten my complexion.

In New York - Tie Dye Summer

I visited NYC & Jersey City last weekend for a quick getaway.
It was truly amazing to see my friends from college. Lots of love!

Decided to challenge myself by wearing a tie dye skirt during my stay.
I mean....It was hot, humid and beautiful there unlike SF!

This tie dye skirt is very *bright*, but I managed to tone it down a little
to a more mature & feminine level by adding black accessories like my bag, cardigan and sandals.

Overall, loved NYC! Loved Jersey City. Lots of inspiration.

Little Mistress's Sienna Dress is a sophisticated, feminine but colourful dress
with a beautiful cut to accentuate a lady's body.

Perfect for work, and perfect for a lovely dinner with friends or significant others!
I could see myself wearing this to a work related event too!

I especially loved the cut of the dress around the shoulders!
Not too revealing, just the right amount.
In Japan, showing a little bit of skin is considered sexier than showing *everything*.
Mystery is a good thing ;)

This day, I matched the dress with a couple of my favourite brands:
- Tatcha's Red Lipstick (Kyoto Red) (Read more about Tatcha here!)
- Madewell's layered necklace to make the look a little more casual

Pink fairy dust and sparkles

I instantly fell in love ❤️ with this super romantic Little Mistress's Floral Pink Bandeau Maxi Dress.
I find myself attracted to rosy pink colours these days, so this dress was a perfect match.

Maxi dresses like this are hard to find - Some dresses are simply too poofy, some are shapeless.
Not this one! The cut of this dress is perfect because it is slim and narrow.
It helps beautify and enhance the shape of your body.

The colours of this dress are dreamy, soft yet vivid.
It almost feels like the dress is letting out dust of sparkles as you walk.

Wearing a white blazer on top definitely made the look more casual.
Either way, I can see myself wearing this to wine valley, a dinner party or lunch party!

Wearing Little Mistress's Dark Tropical Cut Out Dress during the golden hour after work at Yerba Buena Garden.
This dress is so vibrant but remains sophisticated and classy with its cut and silhouette.

I paired it with red bold lipstick and black sandals to make sure the dress had the main role. The dress is polyester so its very comfortable to walk in, sit in and play around in! I also wore this look to my friend's retro-themed party. The cut out and the colours just make it stand out!

Check out Little MIstress's dresses for more beautifully cut feminine dresses made with gorgeous fabric.

All white & beige in SoMa

For a clean and sophisticated look at work, I decided to wear a light white top and a edgy beige-white skirt.
I love gold accessories so I've also added a Madewell stacked necklace too.

I believe that wearing light colours make you look less intimidating and a little more friendly than wearing all black.
On my first day at work 2 days ago, I wore an all beige-white look too!

Sharpen up a flowy cross back dress with leather

Hayes Valley is full of little colourful surprises....like this colourful door!
It's a challenge pulling off a maxi dress *all-day* in SF given the temperature changes.
That's when a leather jacket could sharp things up and keep you warm.
Oh, and bootie-lookin' sandals. 'Cause sandals may look a little too summery.

Bright sunny orange in cloudy Hayes Valley

It has been cloudy, cold and gloomy in San Francisco.
But that doesn't stop me from wearing bright sunny colours!
The skirt is very vibrant - but matching it with a plain white feminine shirt can fix it all.

Inspired by Japan - My first impression of Tatcha's "Ritual Discovery Kit"

As you may know by now, I am obsessed with Tatcha - a Japanese inspired skincare brand founded by Victoria Tsai.
I've already written a review of their amazing "Kyoto Red" lipstick here.

For those who've missed it, Tatcha is a luxury skincare brand inspired by geisha beauty rituals. Victoria Tsai visited Kyoto and met beautiful Japanese geishas, which then led her to discover a "world of pure beauty, craftsmanship and heritage". The products I have from them are all "Made in Japan", which make me feel so proud..

Today, I'll be writing about their  "Ritual Discovery Kit" includes the following (for combination skin):
  • PURE One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil - 150 ml | 5.1 oz
  • POLISHED Classic Rice Enzyme Powder - 60 g | 2.1 oz
  • RADIANT Deep Brightening Serum - 50 ml | 1.7 oz
  • SUPPLE Moisture Rich Silk Cream - 50 ml | 1.7 oz

And as always - these are the reasons why I am in love:
  • Beautiful packaging - I mentioned this in my previous post about "Kyoto Red" and I think the photos I've posted say a thousand words. The packaging of Tatcha products have been spectacular by far. It's like opening one of those high-end Japanese traditional sweets - carefully crafted, wrapped and thought through for us, customers. Every detail counts: Colour, texture and design. This time around, the box was crafted in a way that the unboxing experience almost felt like opening a special book for the first time. Once opened, it felt as though a breeze of flower petals passed by. The purple and pink colours and images in the box created a perfect vibrant experience.

  • Online tutorials and support - For every product in this Discovery Kit, there are online tutorials on how to use it. This is incredibly comforting as a first time Tatcha user. Tatcha also talks about the ingredients being used in their products reassuring us of what is truly being used.

  • Ingredients, scent, texture and results - I'll have to get back to you on the long term results, but here's what I thought after my first couple uses.

    - Pure Camellia Cleansing Oil - Fresh scent and very soft to the skin. Blend of Camellia and Rice Bran Oil. It's hard to believe it's removing all your make up but it does a great job in doing so.

    - Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder - This powder is a face wash and exfoliator. The powder turns into a mild foam after blending with water. It's a very calming, relaxing exfoliator which you can tell does not harm the skin. No scent and leaves the skin smooth and fresh. It does not dry out your skin.

    - Radiant Deep Brightening Serum - Tatcha's website mentions that you could see a difference in age spots in 4-8 weeks. A fresh scented light weight cream. Does not leave the skin sticky. It's very calming.

    - Finally, the Supple Moisture Rich Silk Cream - Leaves the skin super moist and soft like a baby's bum. Fresh scented. All of the products felt soothing to my skin. I can't wait to see what it has in store for me for the next few weeks!

  • Inspired by Japan - When I first heard Victoria Tsai (Founder of Tatcha)'s story about building her brand, I was thankful, proud and extremely happy to hear her & Tatcha's connection to Japan - Kyoto to be specific. Tatcha has "Made in Japan" products which I think is very special being a brand founded in the USA. I love to see that "Made in Japan" text on all Tatcha boxes!

Their "Discovery Kit" is a great place to start. Let me know if you have any questions on my Tatcha experience!

Black & White - and goodbye to hiding.

As I mentioned on Instagram, one comment I have been receiving from followers is that
I'm always hiding my face.

Initially this was because of privacy concerns, but I've realized it's harder to connect with followers while "hiding".
So I've decided to change this and get brave.
I'm done "hiding".
Yoroshiku ("Kindly", in Japanese)❤️

This is a look that I wore to the airport when flying to San Diego.
A casual black & white look.

顔ずっと隠してきたけど
もうやめます!
本気モードです。
