Here's my school girl look at work. It's so cold in San Francisco - at least in SoMa. When will the summer ever come? My high school (Int'l school) did not have a uniform but I was surrounded by Japanese high schoolers on the train and in public. So I bought a private school uniform and wore it to school! Got in trouble a couple times but teachers eventually got used to it. I believe I continued to wear it for 1 year or so. Everyday :) Japanese uniforms are too cute! 。。 ******************** skirt: MANGO jacket: From a shop in Tokyo ********************

I think I may have finally found the one. The perfect red lipstick - Tatcha's "Kyoto Red". Before I go into the details I want to introduce Tatcha. Tatcha is a luxury skincare brand inspired by geisha beauty rituals as their website notes. The founder of Tatcha visited Kyoto and met beautiful Japanese geishas, which then led her to discover a "world of pure beauty, craftsmanship and heritage". The products I have from them are all "Made in Japan", which make me feel so proud.. So now on to my quick list of why I am in love with their red lipstick - already:
So now it's your turn to try this beautiful product. As always, let me know if you try it out. Would love to hear from you! Check out Tatcha's "Kyoto Red" lipstick here: Go to website Stay tuned for more reviews on Tatcha's products! In Japan, pale, clear, freckle-free skin is admired and is thought to be beautiful. This is communicated through mass media & general culture.
When it comes to freckles, I grew up thinking that freckles are only "cute" on non-Japanese women. I have not met many Japanese girls with freckles either. When I lived in Japan, I got numerous comments on my Japanese freckles; never positive. Usually something like: "Oh, wow, you're Japanese and you have freckles?". Being young, I took such comments negatively. Additionally, being influenced by the Japanese media beautifying clear spot-free skin, I had learnt to hide my freckles as much as I can using concealer, foundation, powder and blush. Now after moving to the US, things have changed. All I have heard are positive comments (Thank you!), not a single negative remark or feeling. Once upon a time, a young man walking towards me on Valencia Street in the Mission (San Francisco), walked up to me and complimented my freckles. My friends and I giggled, but my initial reaction was "What? You can notice these freckles from that far away? Yikes...." I recently have been seeing articles where girls draw "Faux Freckles" using Freckle Pencils to look younger, haha! So maybe it's not such a horrible thing? It's hard to switch to liking something when you are born and raised in a culture where it is thought to be "not beautiful", but I hope slowly & surely, that I will learn to accept it - not hide it. Masking freckles is too difficult anyway! All you need is:
- 1 egg white - 1 tsp of fresh lemon juice 2 ingredients! Whisk it up, put it around your nose and it's told to be effective for blackheads! I kept it on for around 20 minutes. Simply peel or wash it off with water afterwards. I tried it and noticed a dramatic difference in my skin - it got very soft & clear. Give it a try and share with me your results! ♥︎ Please send it to jpinsider@gmail.com! Currently trending in Japan: Syrup nails They call it "Syrup" because it looks like you dropped some sweet delicious syrup on your nail. It's super easy to do. Simply create a gradation of 1 colour like the diagram below. I tried it with gel last night! If you try this out, don't forget to show a photo with me! From this link
This week has been sometimes windy, sometimes cold and sometimes summer-y in San Francisco. Crazy city, just like the rental prices :) Recently purchased these cargo pants. I love the boyish, outgoing look you can accomplish with them. カーゴパンツ なんだかサンフランシスコで流行ってます やたらと見かける★ ****************************** pants: noisy may shirt: gap ****************************** Black, grey, white...The standard colours you tend to see in a school uniform.
My school uniform back in Yokohama Int'l School was Red+Grey+White! ...Good ol' days. A simple look at work today with a leather skirt and a white shirt. My boyfriend's reaction: "You look like a school girl!" ...But it's a leather skirt! レザースカートと 簡単な白シャツなのに 「制服着た女子高生みたい」って 言われてしまった私 *************************** shirt: Muji skirt: no-brand lip: revlon *************************** I have introduced this super easy 2 second hair up do trick on this post. Here's a half up do version of it!
I am in love with this quick hair do given that it is so easy on those days you can't just be bothered to style your hair for work! In Japan, they've even named it: "Kuru-Rin-Pa", which is like an onomatopoeia of the steps you go through to achieve this hair do. As always, please let me know if you tried this out & your feedback, if any! By the way, this bright yellow shirt is from GAP. I still need to remind myself to wear colours more often. Here's why, if you haven't kept up :) JINS is coming to SF and I can't be more excited. It will be their US flagship store.
Opening on the 10th of April. Why am I so passionate about JINS? Being on the PC most of my day, my eyes get tired, heavy and dull very quickly. 2 years ago, when I was back home in Japan, JINS PC glasses were very popular, so I had to try them out.... Basic reasons to love JINS:
For someone who does not wear glasses on a daily basis, $40 for a pair of great quality PC glasses is a great way to enter the market. My boyfriend and I are still hooked on JINS glasses. We go to their stores in Japan every time we go home. And now they're coming to Union Square, San Francisco! I'm not sure if they will have these PC glasses but, it seems like a good competition for Warby Parker :)
