I think I may have finally found the one.
The perfect red lipstick - Tatcha's "Kyoto Red".

Before I go into the details I want to introduce Tatcha. Tatcha is a luxury skincare brand inspired by geisha beauty rituals as their website notes. The founder of Tatcha visited Kyoto and met beautiful Japanese geishas, which then led her to discover a "world of pure beauty, craftsmanship and heritage". The products I have from them are all "Made in Japan", which make me feel so proud..

So now on to my quick list of why I am in love with their red lipstick - already:
  • The colour - Bright sophisticated red which certainly matches various skin colours (see Tatcha's instagram for proof!)
  • The lipstick design itself - It's heavy, metal, black and gold case as well as its diamond cut lipstick is something you don't want to miss out on. "Feels like a weapon" as Victoria Tsai and even my boyfriend noted.
  • The unboxing experience - This was the first time I was impressed and amazed by lipstick packaging. "Kyoto Red" came in a purple Tatcha branded box. Now inside the box, was another box which had a golden handle. I then carefully had to pull the handle to finally lay my eyes on my new lipstick. Most satisfying moment, ever!
  • "Made in Japan" + Tatcha & Japan - When I first heard Victoria Tsai (Founder of Tatcha)'s story about building her brand, I was thankful, proud and extremely happy to hear her & Tatcha's connection to Japan - Kyoto to be specific. Tatcha has "Made in Japan" products which I think is very special being a brand founded in the USA. I love to see that "Made in Japan" text on all Tatcha boxes!
  • Lasting colour and texture - I use a lip brush to put this lipstick on and find the vibrant matte colour last for hours.  Even after a little kiss to my boyfriend, it did not come off ;) It's smooth and does not dry my lips as some glosses and lipsticks do.
  • Attention to detail - Detail, detail and more detail is adored by Japanese consumers. This is very hard to find in the USA, however Tatcha has managed to pull it off very well. "Kyoto Red" has Tatcha's golden symbol engraved on the case. Additionally, the packaging and experience mentioned above all add on to the Japanese detail which I love and miss.

So now it's your turn to try this beautiful product. As always, let me know if you try it out.
Would love to hear from you!
